Garth Booked for Vegas

Garth Brooks is planning a five year residency at the Wynn hotel and casino in Las Vegas. The one-man show will run Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights for 15 weeks per year. Brooks and casino magnate Steve Wynn revealed details today from a Vegas press conference. Concerts begin December 11, 2009.

“I told him he couldn’t afford me, I was wrong,” joked Brooks during the announcement this afternoon from the Wynn. As part of the deal, Wynn had to buy Brooks a plane to get him to and from his Oklahoma home quickly.

Tickets will be priced at $125 for all levels, with the first five weekends set to go on sale Sat., Oct. 24 at 8 AM/PT (details below). About 200 seats per show will be available exclusively to Wynn hotel guests.

Confirmed dates are December 11, 12, 13; January 1, 2, 3 and 22, 23, 24; and February 12, 13, 14 and 26, 27, 28. Concerts will be 8 PM, with an additional Saturday night show at 10:30 PM.
Though it is being billed as one-man show, Brooks is promising surprise guests.

The late entertainer Danny Gans most recently occupied the Wynn Encore theater, before he passed away. “This room is for special moments of entertainment,” said Wynn, reiterating that he plans to maintain only superstar level acts in the theater when it is not in use by Brooks.

Brooks’ charity partner is Teammates For Kids and some proceeds will benefit them.
Brooks revealed this morning that he is officially ending his retirement. Following much speculation, he shared the news at a press conference in Nashville and then took the press with him to Las Vegas for another event.

It has been almost 11 years since Brooks did a full-scale tour. The 47-year-0ld reiterated today that he will not be touring or recording until his youngest daughter, 13, graduates from high school in about five years.

With more than 128 million albums sold, Brooks is the best selling solo artist in U.S. history. He is the only solo artist in RIAA history to have six albums top the 10 million mark. In the midst of one of the most successful careers in music history, Garth retired in 2001, delivered his last record for Capitol Records and moved back to Oklahoma to raise his children.

With a $5 service charge and a $13 tax, the total ticket price is $143. Tickets may be booked by calling 702.770.7469 or online at www.wynnlasvegas.com/boxoffice.

Karaoke Etiquette

APPLAUDE!
Anyone who gets up to perform deserves respect. We are all here to have fun, and it only takes a little encouragement.

Please don't Boo, harass, heckle, or interrupt a singer. It's not about being the best, it's about having the best time.

Please do not walk away from the stage with the microphones. Also, we ask that you do not tap on them or mishandle them in any way. The equipment is expensive, any you may be held accountable for any damages.

Please do Not bring any drinks with you when you come up to perform. Do not set beverages on the DJ table or near the equipment.

Please do not whine about the number of times called up to sing. The Karaoke Host will be as fair as possible. Remember that any new performer will be filtered into the rotation.

Please do not continuously ask when your turn is coming up if the number of singers is heavy. If you have "Leaving" on your mind it's not fair to the others to sing out of turn.

Please do not use foul language when at the mics. Most establishments find this unacceptable.

Please do not sing along louder than the performer, sing back-up, or come up to accompany the performers without being asked. This can be very irritating and distracting to the singer. If you desire to join someone on stage, make sure you have asked them before the performance begins.

Please don't carry on loud conversations next to the stage, or walk in front of the screen while someone is singing.

Please do not bring your own drinks to the karaoke show. Most of the time, beverage sales are the only way an establishment makes any money from a show. Support the establishment that is hosting Karaoke.

Handle our song books with TLC.. they are expensive and time consuming to assemble.
Ask the host for newer songs as books are only updated a few times per year.
Don't be afraid to dance to the music... you don't have to sing to enjoy the shows.
Have FUN! Karaoke is all about having a good time whether you sing or just enjoy the performances. :)

Karaoke Lyric of the Week

Angel of the Morning
as preformed by Juice Newton
There'll be no string to bind my hands
Not if my love can't bind your heart
There's no need to take a stand
For it was I who chose to start
I see no need to take me home
I'm old enough to face the dawn
Just call me Angel of the Morning
Angel
Just touch my cheek before you leave me, baby
Just call me Angel of the Morning
Angel
Then slowly turn away, from me
Maybe the suns light will be dim
And it won't matter anyhow
If morning's echo says we've sinned
Well it was what I wanted now
And if we're victims of the night
I won't be blinded by the light
CHORUS
I won't beg you to stay with me
Through the tears of the day
Or the years baby, baby, baby...
Just call me Angel of the Morning
Angel
Just touch my cheek before you leave me...
CHORUS
FADE

Friday Nights Show 9/25

We had a fantastic night on Friday, September 25, at the Watertown VFW.

With a large crowd of about 75, we had a steady rotation of singers, old and new. There was lots of dancing and fun had by everyone. We celebrated two birthdays as well. Congratulations to Kelly, and Corrina, who both turned 18 last week (LOL). It was nice to see my sister Marie in from New Mexico. She had a great time listening to the music.

The VFW held its food sale from 6 till 7:30, and Patty had a great tip night as bartender. We got a little scared when Kathy led the "choo-choo" line out the front door during "The Locomotion." But they all came back in and twisted down to the next song.

Some of our karaoke highlights included "Abracadabra" by Ginny, "Simple Man" by Doc Pete, "Five Minutes" by Kathy, "Baby Got Back" by Tom, "Alcohol" by Barry, "Crazy" by Terrie H, "Your Cheatin' Heart" by Cecil, "Stand By Me" by Bobbie, "This Magic Moment" by Don, and "Heads Carolina" by Adam. We also heard from Peggy, who dueted with Terrie on "You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man," and yours truly on "Toes" and "Simple Simon Says."

We had a blast, and hope to see everyone next time! :)

Friday Nights Show 9/11

Wow... we had a wonderful night on Friday September 11, at the Watertown VFW. There was a crowd of over 125, with lots of singers and dancers throughout the evening.
Ken Bodah celebrated his 65th birthday with a lot of friends and family coming out to party with him. His children and wife brought in decorations and snacks for everyone, and the bar did a lot of sales with all the "partiers." I hope to see a lot of them returning for future shows, as it was a blast.
We had many singers for the night, and ended up staying an extra hour to fill the rotation. Some of the song highlights included Cecilia singing "Foolish Games," Bobbie singing "Stand By Me," Barry singing "Something To Be Proud Of," Doc Pete singing "Love Me If You Can," Erin singing "Say You Love Me," Maggie singing "Cheater, Cheater," Penny singing "I Am Woman," Candy singing "Crazy," and Ginny Singing "Johnny B Goode."
We also heard from Adam, Deryk, Stephanie, Chris, Josh, Donnie, Nicole, Don, Laura, and Peggy. Cecil got a huge round of applause with his rendition of Right Said Freds "I'm To Sexy."
Of course... everyone got up to dance for the Cupid Shuffle, and the Twist Mix. Corrina shook her booty to most every song throught the night.
Thanks to all who came out and had fun with us... we hope to see you next time. :)
